As much as we would like to believe that bad things always happen to
A note to Mom and Dad about what we do here at this Dojo.

Friends
As you travel up the mountain,
make friends with everyone that you meet.
You'll see them again on the way back down!
Earning a Black Belt means that you've learned the rules of respect.
This lets you be a beginner.
A beginner is the coolest thing that you can be.
Weapons are always treated with the greatest respect! We use wooden weapons. Treat them as though they were made of steel.
Throwing
Ninjas
These 4 & 5 year olds learn how to stay away from strangers, how to fall properly, how to stretch, and a little about punching and kicking. This is mostly an anti-kidnapping and safety class, since we don't want to create little gladiators.
Our Ninja classes are on Saturday mornings and really big fun for the little ones.

Stretching
We always stretch before we train.
What direction do
you go first
for any stance?
If someone tries to punch you, DON'T BE THERE!!!
The best thing about Shintaikido is that there is no end to the road.
The Mountain just keeps on going up!
Girls are usually better at the tricky parts of Shintaikido because they
don't try to force things into place.
Rangers
These classes present a variety of basic techniques which lay the groundwork for what they will be doing in the regular Junior classes.
As the students progress, they earn patches for their knowledge. First, the Tiger Patch, followed by the Dragon Patch, the Bushido Patch, the Big Dragon Patch, and finally, the Master Tiger Patch. Once they've earned their Master Tiger Patch, they're ready for the regular Junior classes.
Our Ranger classes are offered three times per week and really big fun for the aspiring students.
Regular Junior Classes
"Do" - Way
The "way" is the path that you travel down in life. This is the Japanese letter for "Do". Say it like you say cookie "dough". In Chinese it is pronounced "Tao" like "wow".
Learning
Always try to study your art with your mind. This is the first step to true understanding.
Helping
If someone looks lonely or confused,
ask them if you can help them.
Shin - Tai - Ki - Do
Mind - Body - Spirit - Way
True martial arts teach
the whole person,
not just the body,
not just the mind,
not just the spirit.
Shintaikido
Shin - Tai - Ki - Do
Mind - Body - Spirit - Way
"Tai" - Body
Your body is what we see. It does the physical part of all techniques. Treat it well.
"Shin" - Mind
The mind is where we start everything. It's important to have an understanding of how a technique is built before we can do it. The mind fixes and polishes the art.
"Ki" - Spirit
"Ki" ("key") is the energy that makes you alive. It is not your soul. It is your spirit, attitude, positive nature. Ki is what makes a martial art like Shintaikido an ART and not just punching and hurting people. This is really important!
